Lab Process Engineer , Regulatory Compliance

As the primary support for Regulatory Compliance Engineering Laboratory operations in both North Reading and Westborough, this role entails comprehensive oversight of high-tech lab maintenance and administration engineering functions.
Our laboratory is independently accredited as an EMC (Electro-Magnetic Compatibility) and Product Safety test lab, conducting tests to both domestic and international standards, and operates under its own internal quality system.
The responsibilities of this position are centered around the intricate process of meeting agency requirements and radio-frequency parameters for such a test lab.
We are seeking a highly organized team player with exceptional communication and computer skills, capable of following instructions accurately, excelling in independent work, and demonstrating a keen ability to learn quickly.
The ideal candidate values accuracy and precision, possesses strong multitasking abilities, effectively communicates project status, demonstrates expertise in process improvement, and consistently exercises sound judgement.
Candidates for this role must have a solid foundation in electronics technical training and familiarity, enabling them to understand the principles and hazards associated with high-voltages, radio-frequency fields, magnetic fields, industrial control panels, and both stationary and mobile robotic products.
Additionally, candidates should have some level of familiarity with general electrical/electronics laboratory test equipment and practices, and the capacity to become proficient operators of complex electronic test equipment through dedicated learning efforts.
Key job responsibilities- Performing RF cable and Transducer qualification testing and Factor derivation, including for attenuators, notch-filters, preamplifiers, impulse limiters, harmonic-mixers, and other devices as needed.
- Performing Measurement Uncertainty calculations and accurately reporting them to our accrediting bodies for various test scenarios and equipment setups.
- Coordinating and overseeing lab facility maintenance, including scheduling outside vendors for inspection and servicing of ElectroMagnetic Interference (EMI) chambers and electrical/mechanical equipment, as well as fire-detection and HVAC equipment within the chambers.
- Managing the laboratory equipment and calibration list and files, including adding new equipment, tracking equipment due for calibration, identifying suitable equipment and calibration vendors, obtaining quotes, scheduling and placing purchase requisitions for new laboratory and office/computer equipment, supplies, equipment calibrations, or repair services.
Also responsible for arranging equipment shipment, proper packing, tracking equipment return, ensuring required data and certificates are received and filed, conducting equipment check-in functional testing and documentation, and maintaining comprehensive records.
- Reviewing, creating, amending, updating, and controlling documentation such as test plans, test procedures, quality procedures, test reports/records, templates, automation of reports, test validation logs, Corrective and Preventative Actions, the laboratory Quality Manual, Engineering Change Orders, customer feedback surveys, Confidence Check logs, and various laboratory accreditation documents and forms.

- Developing and maintaining lab websites, including one for customer-facing information and another for internal information necessary for all lab staff to perform their job functions efficiently.
- Managing the lab resource-scheduling tool and making updates and changes as needed.
- Developing and streamlining tools for better lab coordination and functionality - Overseeing lab safety, organization, layout, equipment storage, and cleanliness, including interfacing with Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) departments.
- Maintaining all lab tools and consumable supplies, as well as making recommendations for new items.
- Assisting with setting up chambers, tests, Equipment Under Test (EUTs), and support equipment for ElectroMagnetic Compatibility (EMC) and Product Safety testing.
Periodically performing EMC and Product Safety testing when necessary to meet lab and customer project deadlines.
- Logging and tracking all received customer test samples, storing them appropriately, and returning them to customers upon completion of work.
- Adhering at all times to the laboratory quality system, safety guidelines, and accreditation requirements as described under ISO/IEC 17025.
