Job Overview - The Hardware Development Engineer I (HDE I) works on the development of mechanical hardware that are used in robotic workcells within the Amazon fulfillment network.
They usually own a subcomponent and develop it from early phases of the project, through Alpha and Beta and finally launch in GA.
HDE Is design and set up the structure of the assembly in CAD, collaborate with manufacturing engineers and supply chain groups to structure the bills of materials (BOMs).
They align on suppliers, have routine meetings and resolve technical and schedule-based issues.
They conduct design reviews and demonstrations and release engineering change orders (ECOs).
They release drawings, conduct tolerance stack up analysis, simple finite element analysis (FEA), bolted joint calculations and DFMEAs.
HDE Is also interface with customers and stakeholders.
They collaborate with hardware test engineering, advanced manufacturing engineering, software and science groups to provide clarity on the architecture or work with suppliers on possible changes that may be required to the design.
They also interface with UX/ID groups on ergo analysis and design of the products.
They ensure that the product is safe to handle and pass regulations for product safety.
Key job responsibilitiesHDE I in the Manipulation Robotics Org is responsible for1.
Working within an interdisciplinary team to design components that will be used in robotic workcells2.
Designing hardware solutions used in Robotic Workcells3.
Performing static and dynamic analysis using FEA or hand calculations4.
Validating concepts through CAD models and prototypes.
5.
Creating and conducting experiments to verify concept functionality6.
Creating design documentation, including drawings, requirements, functional specifications, and design validation plans/reports, ensuring information is readily available for future iterations and compliance.
7.
Releasing products using Engineering Change Order (ECO) process.
8.
Collaborating with software and science teams to understand design tradeoffs across hardware/ software for seamless integration.
9.
Working collaboratively with Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Quality organizations as well as vendors for a smooth product launch and sustainment.
10.
Exhibiting role model behaviors of thorough engineering analysis and cradle to grave ownership.

The team is working on cutting edge end of arm tools and this will expose you to the state of art in this area and opportunities to design and patent your ideas.
We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:
North Reading, MA, USA.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
